布依族主要聚居于贵州黔南、黔西南两个布依族苗族自治州,在贵州许多地方及云南和四川等地也有分布。根据2000年第五次全国人口普查统计,布依族人口为2971460人。布依族使用布依语,属汉藏语系壮侗语族壮傣语支。布依族在中华人民共和国成立前没有文字。1956年,人民政府为布依族创制了拉丁字母的拼音文字。
Buyi mainly live in Guizhou Qiannan and Qianxinan, two Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, in many parts of Guizhou and Yunnan and Sichuan are also distributed. According to the statistics of the fifth national census in 2000, the population of Buyi people is 2971460 people. Buyi people use the Bouyei language, which belongs to the Zhuang-Dai language branch of the Zhuang-Dong ethnic group of the Sino-Tibetan language family. Buyi ethnic groups in the People’s Republic of China before the establishment of no text. In 1956, the People’s Government created the alphabetic letters of the Latin alphabet for the Buyi people.
