Starting in 1985, the Munich-Turbo Allied Company and the German Aerospace Research Institute (DFVLR) developed a slurry fan engine for civil aircraft based on a national slurry fan research project supported by the Federal Department of Research and Development. According to the joint development project, the CRISP, the model was used to validate the performance of this new engine concept in the Göttingen wind tunnel. In addition to advanced engine design, low fuel consumption, and optimized aircraft layout, engine integration issues are also important due to the aerodynamic interference between the aircraft and the engine. DFVLR has been engaged in the development of engine integration and experimental simulation engines, DFVLR will continue to develop slurry fan engines in the next few years.
