After achieving a high growth rate of 9.9% in 1993, the Singaporean economy enjoyed a rapid growth of 10.1% in 1994, driven by strong growth in manufacturing and construction. Industries such as trade, commerce and transportation services performed well, with growth rates up from the previous year. National fiscal revenue surged as much as 9.2 billion Singapore dollars, more than 2.2 billion Singapore dollars in 1993. Except for the government grant of education funds and medical insurance funds of $ 1.1 billion, the Singapore government’s net budget surplus for 1994 was S $ 8.062 billion.
