新中国成立后,董必武为新中国的法治历程提供了坚实的保障,为后来“依法治国”的提出奠定了基础。在法律人才培养方面也作出了重要的贡献。一方面,他重视从思想上、政策上对旧司法人员的改造,同时,也注重一个长期性的过程。另一方面,他也强调对新司法人员的培养工作。董必武对逐步完善新的法学教育框架起了重要作用。
