Gem deposit is an interdisciplinary study between mineralogy and gemmology. It is an important link between gemmology and geology. Gem jade is a fine part of mineral rock, is an integral part of Earth’s material, is to explore the Earth’s composition, characteristics and evolution of the important research object. With the deepening understanding of the genesis, characteristics and effects of gemstones, and the discovery and application of new types of gemstones, gem deposit geology is developing into a rich and comprehensive discipline integrating geology and gemmology. This paper reviews the history and development of gem depositology, summarizes the distribution characteristics of gemstone resources, presents the mineralization of gemstones and gives a brief exposition, and gives the characteristics of gemstones deposit and the research characteristics of gemstones deposit . It is believed that the mineralization of gem minerals or rocks is the basis for the study of gem deposits. However, the formation of gem-quality gemstones also needs to be studied into the role of gens and gens. Many characteristics and effects of gem in gem, such as the mechanism of changing color, discoloration and moonlight effect, and the study of special structure have yet to be improved. However, these mechanisms are formed under natural conditions and many are blank. In general, gem deposit research is not complete, systematic, many gem mineral causes still stuck in the speculation stage. It is estimated that for a long time, the gem deposit mineralogy still focuses on the collection and collation of single deposit (mined and newly discovered), the same mineral species ratio and comprehensive analysis in different producing areas.
