Gogol’s satirical comedy “imperial envoy”, with its profound ideological content and positive social significance, has become the foundation of Russian critical realism comedy. It highlights the major social themes from the perspective of exposing the decadent nature of the Russian bureaucracy during the reign of Nicholas I in the 1830s. Some people say that the play is entirely an “absurd misunderstanding,” which seems to be incompatible with the logic of life. In our opinion, there is fundamentally profound psychology on the composition of the comedy conflict and the connection between the various conflicts. As a treasure trove of satirical art, “Gogol discards superficial funny gimmicks and devotes herself to revealing the inner world of typical figures.” With this in mind, it is impossible to understand the authenticity and profound disclosure of the art of “imperial envoys.”
