清末民初,林琴南、叶德辉、王国维、辜鸿铭被学术界称为“四怪”,而辜鸿铭怪僻的言行尤超过三人,简直到了“怪诞不稽”的程度。但就是这样一个“怪中之怪”,却有着20多年的秘书经历。 辜鸿铭,原籍福建厦门,生在当时英属殖民地马来西亚。先后在英国、德国、奥地利过了20多年的留学生活,精通英、法、德、日、拉丁文。他从小饱受帝国主义直接或间接的奴役压迫,回国以后又目睹了列强在祖国国土上横行霸道,故虽然受的是西式教育,但却是个百分之百的反西化分子。而颇为耐人寻味
