中华猕猴桃(Actinidia chinensis planch)为猕猴桃科(Actinidiaceae)猕猴桃属(Actinidia)的落叶藤本植物,我国原产。《诗经》(公元前11—前6世纪)、和《尔雅》(公元206—55年)都有记载。唐代诗人岑参曾有“中庭井栏上,一架猕猴桃”的诗句,是我国关于猕猴桃人工栽培的最早记载。其后,《本草拾遗》、《开宝本草》、《植物名实图考》、《国药提要》、《日用本草》……等不少文献对其医疗效用和其他多种用途,均有较详细的记载。可见猕猴桃在我国早已被人们所利用。
