1986年,斯波伯和威尔逊提出关联理论,根据这一理论,语言交际被认为是一种明示——--推理的过程。格特对关联理论进行了发展,提出关联翻译理论。关联理论及关联翻译论,对于解释翻译活动和指导翻译实践具有重要意义。结合关联理论,本文对其在科技英语汉译中的作用予以浅述,旨在阐明其在科技英语汉译中的作用和翻译方法。
In 1986, Spurber and Wilson proposed the theory of relevance, according to which linguistic communication is considered to be an explicit-reasoning process. Gert developed the relevance theory and proposed the theory of relevance translation. Relevance Theory and Relevance Translation Theory are of great significance for explaining translation activities and guiding translation practice. Combined with the theory of relevance, this paper briefly discusses its role in Chinese-English translation of S & T English, and aims to clarify its role and translation method in Chinese-English translation of S & T English.
