采用镶嵌碳化钨硬质合金的凿岩钎头看来比任何一项凿岩方面的改进都显著。与钢制钎子相比,碳化钨硬质合金(以下简称硬质合金)钎头有较长的使用寿命,能保持锋利的刃口和较快的凿岩速度。在硬质合金钎头问世之前,使用了各种钢制钎子。尽管采用了新型钎头,但凿岩成本仍随着使用的凿岩设备的类型和使用条件而变化,即凿岩成本取决于炮孔的深度和直径、岩石的结构、硬度、性质以及凿岩工作效率等因素。钎头的正确使用和合理修磨,将有助于降低凿岩成本。
