Fine-cell external aspiration (FNA) is a tissue sampling method for diagnosing malignant disease. It is similar to microbiopsy, but it can replace a histological sample to obtain a cytological smear. Since 1977, Bernd-Uwe Sevin et al. at the University of Miami in the United States evaluated FNA as a diagnostic method for primary and recurrent tumors. The first phase needs to establish the relationship between histology and FNA cytology. In the original 140 patients, the total pathological diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors was 94.5%; the specificity for malignant tumors was 97%.
