汉斯·希伯是德国人,身为记者的他,对中华文明非常仰慕。1925年,他第一次来到中国,深入贫困的下层民众中了解中国的实际情况。回国后,他把自己在中国的经历写成《从广州到上海:1926年-1927年》一书,产生了较大反响。1932年秋,希伯告别新婚妻子再度来华,与当时在上海的一些国际友人史沫特莱、马海德等人组织了一个马克思主义学习小组,共同研究中国的形势,和中国共产党人结为亲密战友。
Hans Heber, a German, as a reporter, admired Chinese civilization. In 1925, he first came to China and went deep into the underprivileged people to understand the actual situation in China. After returning home, he wrote his own experience in China as “From Guangzhou to Shanghai: 1926-1927,” a book that produced a great response. In the autumn of 1932, Hebrew bid farewell to his new wife to visit China again. He organized a Marxist study group with some international friends such as Smedley and Maheide who were in Shanghai at that time to study the situation in China and become close to the Chinese Communists Comrades
