Using the three-dimensional finite element model of capacitance sensor, the three-dimensional distribution of the sensitivity of 8-electrode capacitive tomography sensor was analyzed. The reconstructed image was used to assess the size of the sensor’s axially sensitive space. The errors caused by approximating three-dimensional sensitive fields into two-dimensional places are discussed.
