通过分析周家庄铜镍矿地层、构造、岩浆岩的地质特征,得出与成矿关系密切的为五台中期角闪斜长片麻岩体和五台中晚期斜长角闪岩;结合矿体、矿石质量,矿体围岩及夹石特征,认为该矿床属岩浆“就地”熔离硫化铜镍矿床,岩相为主控矿因素,与构造关系不密切,含矿岩体基性程度不高,呈岩脉产出。矿化透镜体多位于岩脉近上盘位置,规模小且品位低。另外,还指出找矿标志为宽大的基性—超基性岩脉、金属硫化物富集带和地表明显的褐铁矿氧化带。
