Objective To investigate the correlation between obesity and metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents. Methods Thirty adult children and adolescents with obesity were enrolled in this study. Their systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose (FG), standard oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), fasting insulin (FIns) , OGTT2h insulin (2hIns), lipids (TG, HDL-C), uric acid test, and obesity and metabolic syndrome were observed. Results According to the WHO metabolic syndrome in accordance with the diagnostic criteria Metabolic syndrome was 53.33%, NCEP-ATP full compliance rate of 26.67%. Conclusion With the increase of body mass index, the metabolic syndrome is positively correlated, forming a vicious cycle of endangering health and seriously affecting the health of children. Obesity and metabolic syndrome are causality.
