1935年6月,为了唤起留日学生的民族意识,四川籍留学生傅襄谟、张健冬、简泰梁等人在郭沫若支持下克服重重困难创办了时事新闻周刊《留东新闻》。由于《留东新闻》报道了日本法西斯侵华的野心以及国内风起云涌的抗日救亡运动和当局对外屈辱、对内实行白色恐怖的暴政,所以遭到了日本当局和国民党右翼分子的迫害,《留东新闻》的编者也想方设法与之进行斗争。最终,《留东新闻》在抗战爆发前夕的1937年2月被查封,张健冬、简泰梁等人被驱逐回国。就是这样重要的一份刊物,目前却未看见一篇专门研究的文章。由于《留东新闻》与郭沫若有较密切的关系,哪怕单从郭沫若研究这个角度出发,也应该好好研究一下《留东新闻》。
