我常常想,每个人,总有一些天赋,由于种种原因,没有得到后天的充分开掘,以致被埋没了。比如我自己,中学时曾被一位上海音乐学院的声乐老师认为音质很好,在声乐方面有“本钱”,但后来学习、工作繁忙,未得名师指点,始终只是一个非常业余的自娱自乐者。又比如我在儿时就喜欢练字,小学毕业的时候遇到了一位名师(颐人先生,时年十九),习篆刻,练书法,颇历年所。在上海中学,也一直参加书法小组,指导我们的老师何式愈老先生,过去是叶裕虎(恭绰)先生的秘书,他曾说:“你的正楷已经不错,可以开始练行草了。”于是我就开始临摹孙过庭《书谱》。但后来颐人先生的其他几位弟子都成了书画家,我则仍停留在业余水平,在相隔多年以后见到颐人先生,先生嘱我赶快回去临写《九成宫》,否则字要不像话了。而我写了一段时间,终于又未能坚持下去。现在,周围同事也有称赞我的字写得好的,但我自己很清楚,仍是业余水平。 I often think that everyone, there is always some talent, for various reasons, did not get the full exploitation of the day after tomorrow, so buried.
