Beta-adrenergic receptor blockers (hereinafter abbreviated as beta blockers) have been of interest as first-line drugs for hypertension. However, some special side effects of these drugs have also been found. The main side effects are - increased blood lipids to “atherosclerosis” - leading to coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction in some patients treated with this drug. Other side effects include bronchospasm, heart failure, cold limbs, decreased insulin secretion and effects on the central nervous system. Cause some patients to stop using. However, anti-hypertensive therapy can be prolonged and continued for long-term use because many trials have suggested controlling blood pressure and reducing the incidence and severity of coronary heart disease.
