Sponsored by the Planetary Society, a videoconference was held on July 18, 1987, between Moscow, the Soviet Union and the United States of America, the Battle of Colorado. Some 50 space scientists and engineers from the United States and the Soviet Union attended the meeting. They discussed the future goal of the visit to Mars by the United States and the Soviet Union. Among the issues under discussion, the Soviet Union is currently studying the use of a radio beacon system to locate the surface of Mars and hopes that the United States will participate in the standardization of beaconing frequencies. The Soviet Union will launch the Forbes spacecraft to explore Mars in 1988, while the United States will launch the Mars Spacecraft in 1992 to examine the surface of Mars. The Soviet Union demonstrated the design of a Mars rover with six wheels. This walking car
