This is a lecture given during the lecture time at Peking University by Lawrence Buell, a professor and director of Anglo-American Literature at Harvard University, and a noted ecologist. The article reviews and criticizes the tradition of anthropocentrism that ignored environmental discourse in literary criticism, put the environmental issue on the same important position as human life, human needs and human issues, and discussed the scope of ecological criticism on the basis of this, Ecological criticism and country literature, cultural studies and a series of major issues.
