一、大连这个城市大连不但是东北顶好的海港,而且也是最富庶的一个海口城市。1931年何西亚的报告,就记载着下开数字: “大连市是南满铁路之起点,大连港亦为满铁会社所经营,有员司二千,工役万人;基本航线14条,定期航线9条,不定期航线13条。港分东西北三处,共筑有防波堤三道,计长13,136尺,(王华隆,东北地理总论,页295;许逸超,东北地理,页136:东堤1,221,西堤4,510,北堤7,405,应为13,136,何书误13,146);东北两堤间之东港口,宽1,200尺,为主港焉。堤内外有大小码头16个,
