Adam Smith, as a great theoretical pioneer of market economy, not only expounds how the price mechanism, ie “invisible hand”, leads the growth of national wealth in private market transactions, but also puts forward the orderly conduct of market trading activities Need to have a system based on the important idea of protection. These two aspects actually constitute the essence of Smith’s theory of market economy. However, due to the influence of the popular neoclassical concept (1), a considerable part of the domestic and international economic circles often focus only on the former aspect when they talk about the theoretical legacy of market economy and basically ignore the latter aspect. This led to a one-sided understanding of Smith’s economic thinking. This article re-analyzes several important scholarly works of Smith, including his elaboration of morality and law into the perspective of institutional economics, concentrating on exploring and combing Smith’s ideas on the institutional basis of market transactions, and discussing these profound insights into deepening the transitional economy Enlightenment and Reference Significance of Theoretical and Practical Research.
