During the war of aggression against Japan launched by Japan from 1931 to 1945, a significant change took place in Canada’s relations with China. It not only established formal diplomatic relations, but also gradually transformed the government of Canada from appeasement of Japan to assistance to the Chinese people in the Anti-Japanese War. On the basis of referring to the archives, this paper examines the Canada-China relations during this period, focusing on the reasons for the significant changes in Canada’s China policy toward China from the perspective of Canada’s independent diplomacy established and implemented during World War II. Improvements have had a beneficial effect on both sides.
