May 4-5, 2015, the Eighth National Sociolinguistics Symposium was held at the new campus of Beijing Chinese Language Institute. The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Applied Linguistics and Applied Chinese Language and Literature, Beijing Chinese Language Institute, the Commercial Press, the Chinese Language Press, the Chinese Language and Social Development Research Center of Wuhan University, and the Chinese Language and Coding Standards Research Center of Beijing Language and Culture University Yes “Language Competence and Language Policy Studies ”. Zhang Shih-ping, director of the Department of Applied Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Ministry of Education, Zhou Feng, dean of the Chinese School of Beijing, former deputy director and secretary general of the State Department of Chinese Language and Culture, former director of the Pragmatic Institute, Chen Zhangtai, and Professor Zheng Yuanhan of Wuhan University attended and addressed the meeting.
