美国的杂志《科学》最近刊载的一篇文章在美国学术界引起强烈反响。文章介绍了北京大学教授方精云领导的研究小组.运用一种前所未有的方法,计算出中国森林近50年含碳量的变化。结果发现,前30年中国森林含碳量增加,后20年含碳量减少。这就是说,中国森林原来是像工厂的烟囱一样向大气中排放二氧化碳的,而现在正在将大气中的二氧化碳吸收回来,变成树木,并且能够就吸收了多少碳拿出数据。
A recent article in the U.S. magazine Science has aroused strong repercussions in the American academic community. The article introduces a research team led by Professor Fang Jingyun from Peking University, using an unprecedented method to calculate the change of carbon content in the past 50 years in Chinese forests. The results showed that in the first 30 years, the carbon content of forests in China increased, and the carbon content decreased after 20 years. That is to say, China’s forests were originally designed to emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere like factory chimneys, and now they are absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and turning them into trees, and they can come up with data on how much carbon they have absorbed.
