攀枝花车务段位于成昆线中南段,北起米易,南至三堆子,西止格里坪站,管辖13个站,有货运业务的11个站,主要承担攀枝花市、云南省丽江地区吃穿用等生活物资和攀钢、矿务局的产品及原材料运输,年发送量1400多万吨货物,但是,85％以上属于攀钢的原材料(煤炭、矿石、石灰石等),运距不足10公里,托运人不愿意投保运输。经深入广泛宣传,自1991年5月1日开展保价运输工作以来,运输质量不断提高,运输安全得到了保证,也得到了广大物资单位的信任和支持,使保价运输一年走上一个新台阶。
