Sheng Cheng’s legendary life and his vivid works showcase the history of China’s modernization and Sino-French cultural exchanges in the 20th century. This article uses the experience of the last years of Shengcheng’s stay to introduce his relationship with French scholar Roman Roland and Valery and his French book My Mother.
