This article focuses on a decisive moment in the history of Danish-Chinese relations. For the first time in centuries, the first diplomatic mission dispatched by China (the Beaunese Mission) stayed in Copenhagen in October 1869. This article examines the historical situation of the Chinese envoys meeting Danish monarchs, statesmen and the Danish people. This visit lays the foundation for greater understanding between the two countries. Among them, the most prominent result was the preparation for the introduction by Danish financial entrepreneur Karl Frederick Scheitgan of its enterprise, the Greater Taipei Telegraph Company, into China. Although the Qing government opposed the introduction of the telegram, Danish vessels started laying cables on China’s seabed and introduced Hyundai Telecom, due to the defensive style of Titan and the support of the delegation’s central figure, Pu Anchen. Only one year after the visit by the Burlingame Mission to Copenhagen, Technology projects.
