台湾昆虫学研究始于十九世纪中叶，在经历欧洲人研究（１８５６－１８９４）和日本人研究（１８９５－１９４４）两个时期后，国人紧密联系农业生产开创了昆虫学研究与害虫防治的新局面。文章在全面考察的基础上论述了昆虫研究与害虫防治事业在台湾的起源和发展过程，分析了各个时期昆虫学工作的特点及取得的重要成就。
Taiwan entomological research began in the mid-19th century. After two periods of European Studies (1856-1894) and Japanese Studies (1895-1944), people in China closely linked with agricultural production and created new entomological research and pest control situation. Based on a comprehensive survey, the article discusses the origin and development of insect research and pest control in Taiwan and analyzes the characteristics of entomological work and important achievements made in various periods.
