宝成电气化铁路自1975年全线开通以来,由于工业污染日益加重,接触网绝缘子绝缘强度明显下降,以至经常发生污闪事故。尤其在蒸汽、电力混合牵引的车站和靠近工业污源(化工厂、冶炼厂、水泥厂)的线路上,当气候条件不利时(小雨、雾等),污闪事故更为频繁,使运输生产受到严重损失。据宝风段1960—1977年接触网事故跳闸统计;18年总跳闸次数为2,453次,平均每年跳闸136.3次,其中接触网绝缘不良的事故占15%。成都局广成段近几年统计,接触网跳闸事故约占牵引供电系统总事故的20%。接触网绝缘不良的跳闸事故,最高占接触网总跳闸的80%。多数绝缘不良的跳闸事故是由1302绝缘子引起的。
