在向大气排放燃烧产生的污染中,氮氧化合物NO_x是一种有害于人体健康的污染物,尤其是它经太阳光紫外线照射,与汽车尾气中的碳氢化合物同时存在时,能生成一种有毒的光化学烟雾,对人体危害更大,此外NO_x也是形成酸雨的来源之一。据国外统计表明,在各种燃烧装置中,电站锅炉的NO_x排放量几占一半以上,而且80％左右是由煤粉锅炉排放的,是燃煤电厂烟气排放的三大有害物(SO_2、NO_x及飞灰)之一,并且随着大容量燃煤电站锅炉的不断发展,NO_x排放量将更大。
