The permeability coefficient is one of the important mechanical properties of soil, but there are many factors that affect the permeability index, such as soil structure, particle size distribution, density, water quality, temperature, saturation, and instrument performance, operation methods, etc., and so on. Compared with the nature, the accuracy of the permeability coefficient and the test method are worth studying. In the laboratory, the permeability coefficient is generally measured under no-load conditions. However, in practical projects, the soil layer as the foundation always receives the self-weight of the overlying soil and the additional pressure of the structure. Therefore, the permeability coefficient under load conditions is measured.
