Tactility has always been a challenge for machines, and if robots become waiters at the table, they have to ensure that they “neither crumb the wine glass nor hold the pot.” Recently, two teams from California designed two types of electronic skin, one of them even can feel the butterfly hanging on the surface. In the future, “electronic skin” will not only allow the machine to better serve people, make people with disabilities feel the touch again, but also allow scientists to remotely touch a sand and stone on Mars. Since the advent of video cameras and recorders, the machine has gained visual and audio experience. But how to give the machine a sense of touch? This has been a thorny issue.
