Aim: To explore the connection between Hoxa-10 and humanimplantation by observing the expression pattern of Hoxa-10 in hu-man endometrium during normal menstrual cycle. Methods:Human Hoxa-10 Riboprobe was prepared and the expression ofhomeobox gene Hoxa-10 in the human endometrium during men-strual cycle was determined through in situ hybridization. Re-sults: Hoxa-10 expressed in both glandular cells and stromalcells at proliferative phase and early secretory phase. But the ex-pression of Hoxa-10 was markedly decreased or disappeared inglandular epithelium at the mid secretory phase, which correspondsto the time of implantation, and at late secretory phase. Conclu-sion; The results suggest that Hoxa-10 may play an essential rolein establishing necessary conditions for implantation. (Reprod Con-tracep 2001; 21: 149-52)
