Peptic ulcer and upper gastrointestinal cancer are common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases in the digestive department. They have their own etiology and pathogenesis, especially when they are both present. In our hospital from January 1984 to December 1998, 25478 cases were examined by endoscopy. 3815 cases of peptic ulcers (PU) and 1604 cases of upper gastrointestinal cancer (943 cases of gastric cancer and 661 cases of esophageal cancer) were detected.
