南安市地处福建东南沿海,是福建省的一个农村大县(市),全市面积2036平方公里,有“七山一水二分田”之说,共有380个村委会,33个居委会,人口150万。改革开放以来经济快速增长,跻身全国百强、省十强县(市)行列,基础教育持续健康发展。现有中学80所、小学437所,学生总数38万人,是福建省基础教育大户。1996年以高水平、高质量实现“两基”,2001年被授予“全国教育‘两基’先进地区”称号。2001年底被省教育厅确定为基础教育课程改革实验区,2002年秋季全市初中、小学起始年级全部启用新课程,参加实验班级1279个、学生5.7万人、教师3235人。在这样一个农村大县(市)进行课程改革实验,能否顺利进行,能否取得实效,这是大家担心的一个问题。这种担心是可以理解的,因为农村师资条件、教学设施、学生原有水平、家庭教育等方面都比城市差。经过了一个多学期的实践,南安市给我们一个肯定的答案——农村学校同样可以实施新课程,新课程给农村孩子带来了与城市孩子同样快乐的教育。
Located in the southeast coast of Fujian Province, Nan’an City is a large rural county (city) in Fujian Province. The city covers an area of 2036 square kilometers with a total of 380 village committees, 33 neighborhood committees and population 1.5 million. The rapid economic growth since the reform and opening up ranks among the top 100 counties in the country and ranks among the top 10 counties (cities) in the province. The basic education has sustained and healthy development. 80 existing secondary schools, 437 primary schools, the total number of students 380,000 people, is a large-scale basic education in Fujian Province. In 1996, “Two Basics” was achieved with high standard and high quality. In 2001, it was awarded the title of “Advanced Base of Two Basics of National Education”. By the end of 2001, it was confirmed as the experimental area of basic education curriculum reform by the Provincial Department of Education. In the fall of 2002, the city started its new curriculum with a total number of 1279 experimental classes, 57,000 students and 3235 teachers. Whether we can carry out the curriculum reform experiment smoothly in such a large rural county (city) and whether we can achieve tangible results is a question everyone is worried about. This concern is understandable because rural teacher conditions, teaching facilities, students’ original level, and family education are worse than those in urban areas. After a multi-semester of practice, Nanan City gave us a definite answer - rural schools can also implement the new curriculum, the new curriculum to rural children with the same happy and educated city children.
