1919年至1921年期间,美国著名学者杜威来到中国进行演讲,受到广泛欢迎。本文通过分析1919~1921年期间在华出版发行的4份英文报纸,探讨英文媒体对此事的议题呈现情况,发现:一、《密勒氏评论报》报道量最多,报道类型也很丰富;二、英文报道不仅包括杜威演讲行程,还包括杜威一些在华其他活动,这有助于丰富杜威在华活动日志的整理与考究;三、社论文章涉及了对杜威演讲内容的评析,探讨了杜威中国之行的意义和影响。
From 1919 to 1921, Dewey, a famous American scholar, came to China for his speech and was widely welcomed. This article analyzes the presentation of the issues in the English media by analyzing four English-language newspapers published in China from 1919 to 1921 and finds that: 1) “Miller’s Review Newspaper” has the most coverage and type of reports; Second, the English coverage includes not only Dewey’s speech, but also some of Dewey’s other activities in China. This helps to enrich Dewey’s activity log in China. Third, the editorial articles deal with the comments on Dewey’s speech, The Significance and Influence of China’s Trip
