We have reported that the optically active reagent α-acetoxy-L-propionyl chloride is reacted with racemic 2-butanol to produce the corresponding pair of diastereomeric esters which are quantitatively determined by gas-liquid partition chromatography to Fast, trace analysis of its optical isomer content purposes.
