Limb segmental soak volume (PV) during a cardiac cycle refers to the maximum change in limb segment volume. The maximum net inflow (PNI) during the cardiac cycle is the maximum dv / dt. The value of these parameters is small (PV is about 0.0003 × V), so it is difficult to measure. Therefore, conventional simulated volumetric plethysmography measurements of PV and PNI are less accurate and difficult to duplicate. This article describes a digital enhancement method that uses selective signal averaging to improve the repeatability of PV and PNI. The authors delineated the right calf volume pulse pattern of 8 healthy adult men (age 26 ± 4 years), who repeated the test 30 minutes later.
