Hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a cardiovascular disease based on chronic hypoxia, which is based on pulmonary vascular remodeling. The exact pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated. Researchers have found that small gas molecules such as nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO) play important roles in regulating HPH. H2S, SO2 is a new endogenous gas signal molecule discovered after NO and CO. This review summarizes the generation and distribution of H2S, SO2 and their roles in hypoxic pulmonary hypertension.
