在全球化背景下,回族社区经济现代性转型是传统与现代遭遇下民族传统经济文化如何转型和持续发展研究的前沿领域。在我国加快城市化和现代化进程中,不同区位和集聚程度及发展水平下兼具民族性和传统性的回族社区经济如何在现代性冲击下既能坚守优秀民族文化传统又能充分实现经济的现代化?回族社区在现代性转型过程中是趋于消亡还是在新的层次上进行重构?通过多学科理论的有机结合,借助于“技术-组织-地域”三位一体思想和“学习场”理论,构建并发展融民族精神/信仰认同、学习创新/知识创造、组织/族群、空间/地域“四位一体”的“回族社区”分析框架。其最大特色在于,通过地理空间透镜,把中国回族社区传统与现代、工具理性与价值理性有效地联结起来,进而为理解中国回族社区提供了一个更具解释力的理论范式。
