北京方言中表“害怕”“胆怯”义的chù的本字,学者们有三种观点:“怵”“憷”“”。作者通过考察古代韵书、字书对有关字的注释,以及一些古代和现代的文献资料,对这个chù的本字做了考证,认为应当是“怵”。作者在考证chù本字的基础上,进一步考察了《新华字典》《现代汉语词典》关于“怵”“憷”的注释,发现这两部辞书,各自不同的版本都或多或少地存在一些差异。本文在分析这两部辞书对“怵”“憷”的注释演变的基础上,提出了在这两个字释义方面的一些意见。
