经过１９９０～１９９１年的调查：省内火棘有４种类型，全省鲜果年总产量在２５００万公斤上以，各县均有分布但产量相差很大，高的达１００万公斤，低的仅为１万公斤。对火棘生长发育和分布有明显影响的是温度、光照和海拔。省内从海拔２５０～２５００ｍ都有分布，而在８００～２４００ｍ之间是其生态最适带。果实成熟期在８月中旬至１２月上旬。
