清末民初,在西方硬笔还未替代毛笔成为国人日常书写工具之时,铜墨盒曾作为一类流传甚广的案头文房与文人墨客相随。而刻于墨盒面的诗文、书法、花鸟、人物、山水等不同题材的刻铜艺术则洋溢着彼时丰厚的人文情怀,同时彰显出刻铜艺人的匠心独运。时下,墨盒虽已褪去其储备墨汁之实用功能,却以蕴藏于其方寸之内的历史文化内涵和艺术价值日渐活跃于当下的中国艺术市场。
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, when the hard pen of the West had not yet replaced the writing brush to become a daily writing tool for Chinese people, the copper ink cartridge was used as a type of highly-circulated desk room with scholars and writers. Engraved on the ink side of the surface of the poetry, calligraphy, flowers and birds, figures, landscapes and other different subjects of copper engraving art is filled with a rich human feelings at the time, while highlighting the bronze artist’s imaginative. Nowadays, although ink cartridges have faded away the practical functions of their reserve ink, they are increasingly active in the current Chinese art market with their historical and cultural connotations and artistic values contained within their confines.
