Due to the destruction of the ozone layer, HCFCs blowing agents, refrigerants will be disabled after CFCs. This has a negative impact on the fluorocarbon market. Taking the markets of North America, Western Europe and Japan as an example, the total demand for fluorocarbons in the three regions totaled 679,000 tons in 1999, with a value of over 3.5 billion U.S. dollars. By 2004, the average annual growth rates of the three places were 0.9%, 3% and - 1.3%. In contrast, the demand for fluorocarbons in the fluoropolymer market is strong. In 1999, the total amount of fluorocarbons used in producing fluoropolymers in the United States was about 104,000 tons. It is estimated that in 2004 it will reach 140,000 tons with an average annual growth rate of about 6%. Corporate profits will continue to decline. HFCs will become the main substitutes.
