一九六一年上半年,我们全面检查了党的教育方针的贯彻执行情况,发现有些学生健康状况不佳,体质差,特别是历届高、初三毕业生,因身体不合格而不能参加工农业生产劳动和不能升入高一级学校的人数占相当的比重。这一情况引起了我们的密切注意,我们认为这正是以往忽视体育工作的结果。为了扭转这种局面,我们就把因病缺课、门诊人次、劳动请假和高校限考等材料向全校教师和学生公布,在校会、班会中反复宣传教育方针的精神实质,说明体育在学校教育中的地位、作用和意义,并组织大家对学校体育工作展开讨论。校医室和体育教研组也对不能参加生产劳动和不能报考高一级学校的毕业生作了调查,发现其中不少人是可以通过体育锻炼和卫生措施来增强体质的;一般教师也认识到片面地追求知识质量,不关心学生的身体健康,是不符合党的教育方针的要求的,是错误
