环境编舞兴盛于20世纪60年代在美国开始的后现代舞运动,是后现代舞的基本创作观念和方法之一,现指舞蹈编导打破传统舞蹈表演空间的规限,选择将舞台剧场以外的各类自然环境(如湖泊、树林、山川等)或生活环境(如广场、建筑、街道等)作为舞蹈创作和演出的场地,并通过肢体语言表现对环境感知的编舞方式。对于编导而言,环境编舞重点探索空间环境对舞蹈的影响,推动了后现代舞蹈的发展;对于舞者而言,特殊的环境既充分调动了舞者的积极性,同时对于舞者自身的身体素质而言也成为一种挑战性;对于观众来说,这种全方位立体的欣赏角度,给予了他们全新的观舞感受与体验。
