众所周知,高中英语教学的主要目的之一就是培养学生的阅读能力。近十年来的高考试题中阅读理解分值占全卷的三分之一,词汇不少于1500个单词,篇数不少于5篇。阅读是理解和吸收书面信息的能力,英语教学之所以投入大量的时间和精力,就是为日后学生能够顺利阅读包括科普、社会、政治经济等方面的文章,以获取更多的知识和信息而做准备。阅读同时也有助于复习和巩固课堂所学,让词汇及句型在一个相对完整的篇章中充分得以实践和体验。阅读还有助于扩大学生的词汇量,丰富语言知识,提高运用语言的能力。现行高中英语教材(SEFC)的阅读材料题材广泛、形式多样,做到了知识性和趣味性的有机结合。
