近年来,随着我国入境游客量的持续增长,社会对英语导游员的交际能力提出了更高的要求,特别是英语口语表达能力。对于中等职业学校旅游专业的学生来说,英语既是一门基础课程,也是一门专业课程。旅游服务人员要求在掌握了必备的旅游专业技能之外,还能进行日常的英语会话交流,能用英语讲解名胜古迹、风土人情等。目前,教师在旅行英语口语课的讲授过程中,往往按照教学大纲,考试大纲,沿袭以教师为中心的传统英语教学方法,虽然在英语口语的教学上己经稍稍改变了填鸭式的教学,但教师过度注重书本知识,忽略旅游英语口语的目标是对学生综合能力培养,因此,近几年来从吐鲁番地区中等职业技术学校走出去的旅游班学生就业率不太理想,尤其缺乏从事外国旅游团的景点解说员。
