机床是一种机械结构,工作时受交变力作用就要“响应”。当交变力的频率同机床结构的某一固有频率相接近时,机床就要发生共振现象,这就是强迫振动。切削过程中产生的交变力往往会引起自激振动,通常简称为颤振。颤振不仅机理复杂,而且危害性更大,因它不象强迫振动那样易于“对症下药”。颤振使加工质量恶化,功率消耗倍增,机床磨损加剧,甚至导致刀具和机床构件的损坏等。因此,三十多年来它一直是各国所重视的科研项目。

The alternating force generated during the cutting process tends to cause self-excited vibration, often referred to simply as chatter. Flutter is not only complicated in mechanism, but also more damaging because it is less prone to “prescribing the right remedy” than forced vibration. Flutter deteriorates machining quality, doubling power consumption, exacerbating machine wear, and even damaging tools and machine tools. Therefore, it has been a scientific research project valued by all countries for more than three decades.
